The Island of Guernsey offers so much when it comes to natural beauty, but that’s not all that makes Guernsey an excellent option for your upcoming destination wedding. With one in five couples now opting to tie the knot away from their home country, destination weddings have never been more popular. Miles of breathtaking cliff paths, panoramic views out to sea and inviting golden sand beaches make Guernsey truly stand out.
The Guernsey climate is amongst the mildest and sunniest in the whole of the British Isles, making it a fantastic summer wedding locale. Where Guernsey may feel like a far-flung location, the reality of the three-hour ferry journey or one-hour flight from the UK, alongside reasonable travel costs, makes the island a natural choice for a destination wedding. It’s entirely possible to bring together friends and family in Guernsey without excluding guests due to lengthy travel times or excessive air fares.

New marriage laws allowing visiting couples to marry anywhere in Guernsey have made it easier than ever to opt for a ‘non-traditional' ceremony location. Combining a reception at one of our elegant hotels with a ceremony on one of Guernsey’s 27 beautiful beaches is entirely possible, all you’ll need is the registered owner’s permission and agreement from your Guernsey celebrant in advance. Ceremonies can even take place at any time or on any day of your choosing, with no restrictions whatsoever.
To give notice of a marriage in Guernsey, both partners must give notice of their intention to marry at least 21 days prior to the marriage taking place, this can be done either online or in person. Notice can be given up to one year in advance of the marriage date. Finally, at a minimum of the day before the date of the marriage, both partners must attend the Greffe (Guernsey Royal Court) in-person, for identity checks and a review of their freedom to marry documentation.
Our boutique hotel collection offers a huge variety of event spaces, ideal for landmark events and celebrations.
